Online Accountability Groups: What are They?!

Hello friends!

Today I want to talk about the online accountability groups I run each month! 

First off, why are they so effective?

Well research suggests that 70% of people who purchase a workout program fail to complete it due to a lack of accountability and support. So having a group of like minded people to lean on and laugh with is essential to success! 

 

How do they work?

My groups focus on the healthy lifestyle concept. It's not about being on a diet, it's about exercising portion control and making smart choices.

 

There are 4 components:

  1. workouts
  2. nutrition
  3. Shakeology
  4. accountability 

1. Workouts: You choose the Beachbody program that works for you! 

Right now, everyone is loving the 21 Day Fix and 21 Day Fix Extreme, which includes 7 days of workouts (a different workout each day). You repeat that 7-day cycle 3 times = 21 days. Each workout is comprised of intervals (you do one move for 60 seconds, get a 20 second break, do another move for 60 seconds, get a 20 second break, etc.). The best part: every workout is 30 minutes! But don't think that just because they are 30 minutes they are easy, Sean and I both struggle through every workout! There are 2 different cardio workouts, upper body, lower body, Pilates, Yoga, and a mix called Dirty 30. They are fun, quick, and effective. (And you go at your own pace, your goal is to do a little better each and every time. There are modified moves as well, so it's great for all fitness levels.)

I'll be doing PiYo this month! Which combines the muscle sculpting of Pilates + the flexibility of Yoga + the dynamic movements of professional athlete training. You can read more about PiYo here, which happens to be my favorite program! 

Cize is also super popular and FUN! It's a 4 week hip-hop program with 6 different routines. Shaun T walks you through the routine step by step and then you do the whole thing a few times through. The workouts are 30-40 minutes, low-impact, and no equipment is needed. It's a great workout since it's all cardio, but you honestly get so focused on mastering the moves that you don't realize you are exercising. Sean actually asks to do it when he gets home from work... which NEVER happened before!

There's also Beachbody On Demand which offers unlimited access to hundreds of programs (P90X, Insanity, Brazil Butt Lift, and more) for only $2.99 a week. 


2. Nutrition

The 21 Day Fix and Cize programs use colored containers for portion control. You calculate how many of each container you are allowed to have each day. The containers come with a book containing recipes, tips, and suggested foods. It's not a diet, it's really an easy way to transition to a healthy lifestyle. For me, portion control is my biggest downfall. I cook and eat really well, but have 4 portions at every meal. So these containers have helped tremendously! When you go to picnics or parties, you just plan ahead. Save the containers you want to use and make smart decisions. 

Additionally, I provide nutrition tips, meal planning tools, recipes, and more to help you stay on track and make healthy decisions. 

3. Shakeology

It's not a protein shake, it's not Slimfast, it's not a weight loss drink. Shakeology is comprised of over 70 superfoods from around the world (Goji Berry, Chia Seeds, Spirulina, Quinoa, Wheat Grass, to name a few). It replaces any multivitamin you are taking as well as probiotics. It comes in 6 different flavors and is addicting! I sometimes have two a day because they are that good. It's great for energy and "regularity." Everyone tries to get out of this component, but I always ask them to give it a week. Within a few days, they are hooked! 4. Accountability

Through a private FB group, I provide daily tips, motivation, and accountability. Each day you will check in and rate your nutrition and workout for the day or complete a fun assignment (like post your Swealfie...you're sweaty selfie!). Again, having a community of support is critical to success!
