Mind Body Spirit: PiYo
Hey hey friends!
I'm super stoked to tell you about one of my favorite workout programs... the ONE that brought me to Beachbody!
Confession: I hate exercise! Yep, I said it. The thought of jumping jacks, tuck jumps, and running makes me want to vomit! However, I am a die-hard yogi! I love to stretch and can stay in Downward Facing Dog all day!
So when I heard about Chalene Johnson's new program, PiYo, I HAD to give it a try. Don't get me wrong, I love, love, love going to Yoga classes, but when you add up the travel time and class time, it takes about 2 hours total. As a busy lady, I need a daily workout that is quick (45 minutes or less TOTAL) and effective. So PiYo is the perfect solution!
It's a low-impact workout that uses your own body weight to sculpt long, lean muscles. Think of the muscle sculpting of Pilates + the flexibility of Yoga + the dynamic, fluid movement of professional athlete training.
The best part: NO equipment is needed! But don't think that just because it's not a high intensity program, it won't deliver amazing results. I lost 10 pounds and 13.5 inches in one month of the program...and to be honest, my nutrition wasn't totally on point since I celebrated my 30th birthday for about 2 weeks while completing the program ;) !
Plus, PiYo Drench was the first workout I did when I returned home from our European trip over Christmas. We walked an average of 10 miles per day, so I thought I was still in pretty good shape. Well let me tell you, after this one workout, I literally couldn't sit on the toilet for a week! OUCH! The inner thigh pain was something fierce! And while I love Autumn and the 21 Day Fix, there's just something special about PiYo that I love! Yes, any exercise will give you that after-workout endorphin high, but PiYo delivers that times 10!
The Core, Buns, and Sculpt workouts are by far my favorites and I can't wait to get back to them on a regular basis!
